Science and Social Studies
Science: Our unit is Animal Studies. We will learn about animal habitats and the way certain animals adapt to their environments. We will learn about predator and prey relationships, food chains, and life cycles. We will also be responsible for building habitats for African Dwarf frogs, fiddler crabs and millipedes. Once our habitats our built, we will have the opportunity to observe and care for these animals in their man-made habitats.
Social Studies: We will begin the year by reviewing map skills. We will review the continents and oceans, as well as how to read map keys and scales. We will then move on to the geography of New York State. We will learn about the Adirondack, Catskill and Taconic Mountains, the Hudson River, and New York's natural resources.
